What is Veterinary Hospice?
Veterinary hospice is a service provided to help maintain comfort and quality of life for a geriatric or terminally ill patient until natural death or the family elects euthanasia.
This service is extrapolated from the human hospice. Our goal with this service is to make your pet comfortable and treating the symptoms of the disease- it is not aimed at curing the disease. During this time we do not focus on bloodwork on diagnostics- instead focusing on the comfort of the pet. Our goal is also to maintain a good human animal bond.
Services include education about end stage disease, subcutaneous fluids, pain management, supplemental nutrition, management of incontinence and bandage and wound care.
We use our knowledge to help you know what to expect in those last few weeks, days and hours and help you make medical decisions.
